I am in need of free traffic to promote a new blog i just made, can anybody asist with genuine information.

SEO is one way to bring in unique visitors, though slowly but surely,
or you can submit in some blog directories, web directory, rss feed directory, add your url in search engines, etc

One word. CONTENT.
You need to publish tons of content. There’s no way around it… and most people will never get free traffic because they don’t publish content.
That’s the bottom line to getting free targeted traffic.
